Practical Considerations in the Interpretation of Electron Diffraction Patterns

The interpretation of “cross-grating” patterns is discussed, and practical methods are presented for converting X-ray diffraction relative intensities to electron diffraction relative intensities. The effects of absorption and refraction are described, particularly as affected by crystal shape. Methods are derived for calculating these effects for various crystal habits.
