Column Chromatography in the Analysis of Creosote
SourceSaturated hydrocarbons are known to be relatively innocuous to most organisms. In the study of the toxicity of compounds to marine wood-boring organisms undertaken by the U. S. Naval Civil Engineering Laboratory, it was found that several saturated hydrocarbons were nontoxic to these animals. A method was required for the separation of saturated hydrocarbons from creosote to determine their toxicity.
