An Electron Metallographic Study of the Precipitation-Hardening Process in Commercial Nickel-Base Alloys
SourceElectron metallographic studies have been made of the commercial alloys Inconel-X, Waspaloy, M-252, and Udimet-500 aged at 1400 and 1600 F for periods up to 100 or 1000 hr. Electron micrographs showing the development of the γ phase as a function of aging are presented, and possible relationships between the precipitation process and the variations of the hardness of the alloys during aging are discussed.
