The concentration of inorganic fluorides in the atmosphere has become a matter of concern in certain agricultural and urban areas. Atmospheric fluorides are readily accumulated by vegetation, where they may be injurious to sensitive plants or have a deleterious effect on livestock that consume the vegetation. Obviously, reliable methods of determining atmospheric fluorides are valuable for making an evaluation of the seriousness and extent of any fluoride air pollution problem.
