In introducing this topic, I would like to acknowledge the many sources of information which were made available to me by engineers affiliated with state highway departments, cities, material suppliers and other industrial groups. To be of most value, this discussion needed to cover the topic from a broad geographical standpoint and it is only through their considerate assistance that my presentation can include examples related to bituminous pavements throughout this country and Canada.
