Flame photometry as a means for determining sodium and potassium in Portland cement has proved its usefulness in recent years. This has been due mainly to its great saving of time as compared with gravimetric procedures, coupled with the fact that relatively inexperi enced operators can obtain excellent results, which is in sharp contrast to experience with other methods.
