Insulated austenitic stainless steel above the critical temperature must be clearly identified to receive specific protection. Specify appropriate insulation and weather barrier material to prevent moisture entry. Proper application of insulation materials is an important part of the specification. Considerations for applying additional protection to austenitic stainless steel are dependent on the operating temperature and critical service of the insulated facility.
