Instrumentation for the Measurement of Nitrogen Dioxide
SourceA comparative discussion is given on the operational and response characteristics of colorimetric, chemiluminescent, and electrochemical monitors for ambient nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Recent studies have demonstrated that ozone (O3) is a significant negative interference with the automated colorimetric technique, and details of these studies are given. The latest technology for the conversion of NO2 to nitric oxide (NO) for subsequent chemiluminescent detection is discussed. The mechanism of operation and the chemistry involved with newly developed electrochemical monitors for NO2are described.
