Notched Test Strips

Source

This paper describes a practical test that enables the metal finisher to detect changes in a standardized plating and baking procedure. Low-cost test strips are processed with the work through the complete cycle. Changes in their median time to fracture measures the degree of hydrogen embrittlement. A simple timing device is described that will automatically record the median breaking time for a set of five specimen. Median fracture times can be correlated to the hydrogen content of the strip.
