Comparative Behavior of Various Pavement Types under Heavy Aircraft Loadings

A comparison between the performance of several types of pavement, composed of unbound and stabilized (lime, cement, asphalt) layers, under full scale accelerated aircraft traffic tests is presented. From results of this comparison, it is concluded that, in general, pavements consisting of stabilized layers are superior to similar pavements consisting of unbound materials and the degree of superiority is a function of quality of materials, stabilizing agent, loading condition, and location of layer within the pavement structure.
