Effect of Solute Elements on Temper Embrittlement of Low Alloy Steels
SourceExtensive studies on alloy steels have correlated temper embrittlement with the presence of electronegative elements such as Sb, P, Sn, and As. This paper studies the relationship of impurity grain boundary segregation to several of the steps involved in the embrittling process through Auger electron spectroscopic analysis of the fracture surfaces of several steels that are distinguished by a ductile-brittle transition.
