Carbon and Low-Alloy Steels

Nearly seven years ago a large American company, which produces ferro-alloys and other steel-making materials, developed and publicized a type of steel for structural purposes which it designated as “low-alloy high-tensile” steel. This was “Cromansil.” It was advocated as a material to replace ordinary structural carbon steels. No loss in strength, but rather an increase was emphasized, as well as a reduction in dead weight and a gain in other properties.
