Suggested Methods of Test for Density of Soil in Place Using the Washington Densometer

This method of test provides a rapid means for determining the in-place density of soils and granular materials. The apparatus described herein may be used to measure the volume of test holes ranging from 0.05 to 0.50 cu ft, which range is sufficient to permit testing all soils and aggregates including coarse granular materials having a maximum particle size of about 4 in.
