Suggested Techniques for Measuring the Fabric of Engineering Soils

Source

Analytical techniques for the measurement of the fabric of engineering soils are presented and discussed. Procedures included are optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. Limitations and advantages of the techniques are presented. Specimen preparation methods are also described. It is concluded that presently available techniques provide useful tools for engineering analysis.
