Suggested Method of Preparing Specimens of Granular Cohesive Mixtures for Physical Tests

This method is intended primarily for use in preparing large size specimens for physical tests by obtaining accurately a predetermined density and moisture content. It shall be used for all laboratory specimens in which the material lacks the purely granular characteristics necessary for vibration technique and where the accuracy and uniformity desired is greater than that obtainable with the ordinary hand tamping methods outlined in the Tentative Method of Test for Moisture-Density Relations of Soils (A.S.T.M. Designation: D 698).
