Viscoelastic Model of Anisotropic Flywheels
SourceA theoretical model for plane-stress, anisotropic, multiple-concentric-ring rotors subjected to time-variable spinning, press-fit, and thermal loads is presented. The problem solution is based on a mechanics of materials approach with a linear viscoelastic constitutive law and Schapery's quasi-elastic solution technique. The model accounts for the effects of temperature on the material creep properties by including time-shifting. Simulations of the stresses and strains in flywheel rotors under realistic non-isothermal load histories are given.
