Improved Characterization of Sulfur Asphalt Materials for Structural Analysis
SourceA new testing apparatus for performing the indirect tension test has been developed. This apparatus has the capability of measuring both horizontal and vertical deformation during the test. Several sulfur-asphalt mixes of varying binder contents as well as two plastics of known properties were tested with the apparatus. Sets of curves were constructed to show the effects of variations of sulfur content on the resilient modulus, Poisson's ratio, and temperature susceptibility of the mixes.
