Lateral Shear Tests of a Light Gage Steel Building
SourceThis paper presents the results of lateral shear tests performed on a light-gage steel building, fully erected structurally. The building had been designed by the author for Armco Drainage and Metal Products, Inc. as a portable classroom building. The mathematical design of the building to resist lateral wind loadings did not fall within the realm of rational analysis; therefore testing was a prerequisite for Building Code approval prior to placing the building on the market.
