Corrosion Standards and Control in the Automobile Industry
SourceMotor vehicles, passenger cars, and trucks are used in many parts of the world. They are operated in all types of weather, parked outdoors when not in use, and thus, subjected to extremes of weather; high temperature, low temperature, rain, snow, high relative humidity, etc. They are driven over roads which have been salted for deicing or dust control purposes and parked in wet garages. Engine cooling systems, exhaust silencing and related parts, hydraulic brake mechanisms, and various lubrication systems are subjected to specific environments internally as well as the external environments noted above.
