Elastic-Plastic Steady Crack Growth in Plane Stress
SourceResults are presented for a crack which is growing quasi-statically under plane-stress conditions. Crack-tip stress and strain fields have been computed by the finite-element method for a crack which is propagating steadily with symmetric small-scale yielding boundary loads (Mode I). The analysis assumes that the material is a standard J2-flow theory elastic-plastic solid exhibiting isotropic-hardening behavior. Results are discussed for various levels of material hardening.
