Technologists of the paint industry fully appreciate the role played by the relationship between weight and volume of materials. Whether or not a paint ingredient or the paint itself is traded on a weight basis, the product is used largely on a volume basis. Even putty and caulking compounds occupy space, and conversion to a volume basis is made, perhaps unconsciously, in many cases.
