Correlation Between Yield Strength and Microstructure of Some Carbon Steels

Experimental data compiled from the literature show that the Hall-Petch equation, which describes the grain boundary strengthening in mild steels, is also applicable to particle strengthening in spheroidized or tempered carbon steels when the mean free path in different types of microstructures is used as spacing parameter. Some results on fully pearlitic steels are also considered.
