Design of Modern Image Measurement Systems
SourceThis paper is intended to provide practicing metallurgists with some understanding of the image measurement instrumentation available today. The history of image measurement is briefly traced through a discussion of the instruments which have been or are presently commercially available. Instruments are classified according to the mode of scanning employed and some of the design factors involved in an image scanning instrument are discussed. The various measurements and counts currently available are described and their applications are considered.
