A Review of Ozone Toxicology Studies
SourceVarious aspects of ozone toxicity are discussed, including pulmonary function testing on humans, morphological alterations in the lungs of model animals, effect on bacterial clearance from the lungs, biochemical changes, and mutagenic effects. Although not a complete review of ozone toxicology, this paper does provide insight into the problem of setting an occupational exposure limit on ozone and does point out deficiencies in available data. An occupational exposure limit of 0.1 ppm, with peak exposure at 0.2 ppm is recommended.
