Source

Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) measurement of microorganisms in pressurized oil field injection waters has confirmed the unsuitability of standard micro-organism counting techniques for this use. Biocide performance in contamination level measurements are used to demonstrate the importance of this relatively new technique.
