Fluorimetric Monitoring of Corrosion Inhibitor Residual
SourceA technique for continuous monitoring of corrosion inhibitor in a waterflood has been investigated. The method consisted of a 160 to 220 ml/min water flow from the system through a fluorescence spectrophotometer. The concentration of the fluorescing species in the inhibitor was then monitored quantitatively. Field variables, such as pH and temperature, were first investigated in the laboratory along with a flow system. The next phase was the field evaluation which showed that the method could be adapted to field conditions. The “in-line” monitoring would give instantaneous chemical residual and thus better control of the system.
