Some Aspects of the Durability of Plastics in Building

The requirements for durability of building products is discussed with particular reference to plastics. The processes of deterioration are considered as well as their significance in relation to performance. Methods of following change must be realistic in relation to use, and the factors involved are discussed, notably UV radiation as the basis of laboratory assessment procedures. There is need tor better understanding of deterioration to aid in total appraisal of building products.
