Influence of Changes in Temperature on Properties of Cellular Concretes

Source

Theoretical limits for maximum and minimum temperature gradients within which microcracks occur in cellular concrete were established. Specimens of concrete were subjected to temperature cycling in four temperature ranges. Experimentally obtained maximum and minimum temperature gradients were found to be in agreement with calculated data. It was established that microcracks reduce substantially the bending strength, have only a limited effect on the dynamic modulus of elasticity, and have a negligible effect on the compressive strength of cellular concrete.
