The Notched Tensile Behavior of Metal Matrix Composites
SourceThe deformation and fracture of boron-reinforced 6061 aluminum and Ti-6A1-4V were examined using X-radiography. Both monofilament and multifilament containing specimens were tested to determine operative fracture mechanisms. It was shown that three distinctly different types of composite behavior could each provide substantial notch insensitivity.
