Crevice Corrosion of Metals
SourceShielded metal surfaces are susceptible to crevice corrosion when exposed to corrosive environments. Crevice corrosion commonly occurs at lap joints, threaded connections, and gasket fittings, in porous welds, and under debris deposits. This review considers the testing methods, the mechanisms of attack, and the procedures for controlling crevice corrosion of metals under a variety of corrosive conditions.
