A possible method for interpreting data generated in rat free-choice bioassays with anticoagulatn rodenticides is described. The method allows a greater freedom in interpretation of parameters of efficacy but has a slight problem in differences in bait acceptance by male and female rats. Basically, analysis is a simple one-tailed t-test comparing percent bait acceptance with a cutoff point. The use of the method is demonstrated with authentic data developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
