The scientific community in the United States is losing credibility, especially in the biological sciences. The reasons range from expediency to ignorance to basic motivation. Lawyers and politicians have entered decision-making areas of science because of these obvious problems. How to work with these other professions in light of the difficulties is the theme of this paper.
