Experience with the Acoustic Emission Monitoring of a Steam Drum Nozzle in a CANdu Nuclear Generating Station
SourceThe acoustic emission (AE) monitoring of a steam drum-boiler interface in a CANdu nuclear generating station is described. The component was monitored during both the initial hydrostatic test and a load rejection test. Results obtained were not in complete agreement with those previously presented in the literature. Examination of the three-detection method of source location reveals part of the cause of this discrepancy. Other potential mechanisms for the generation of non-locatable AE events are discussed.
