A test method has been developed to evaluate the effectiveness of poison baits used against Peromyscus mice. The mice are group-caged and offered the poison bait along with a nonpoisonous field rodent alternate diet. The rationale for the alternate diet is discussed. A Peromyscus mouse bait tested with this method is considered satisfactory if a 90 percent mortality is achieved.
