Analysis of Load-Displacement Relationship to Determine J-R Curve and Tearing Instability Material Properties

Exact methods, based on dimensional analysis of the dependence of the load on crack length and displacement using deformation theory of plasticity, are used to obtain J from a single load-displacement record for different configurations. The methods also permit the evaluation of the crack length increment Δa, and hence, complete J-R curves can be constructed. Formulae for T_mat and T_app are presented as well.
