A Study of Plane Stress Fracture in the Large-Scale Plastic Yielding Regime
SourceThree independent methods for measuring plane stress fracture resistance in the large-scale plastic yielding regime were tested and were found to give equivalent results. The three methods were the J-integral technique, a method based on the increase in compliance that accompanies the development of a plastic zone, and a method based on the direct measurement of the plastic work that must be done to cause fracture.
