Tricalcium Phosphate Biodegradable Ceramic

Particulate and porous scaffolds of tricalcium phosphate ceramic (TCP) have been evaluated in laboratory, laboratory animal, and human investigations. Selected applications of the particulate biodegradable ceramic have shown favorable results, especially when used with autogeneous bone. However, long-term studies of large porous scaffolds need to be expanded prior to routine human applications. Continued research on biodegradation characteristics are recommended.
