The use of loose-fill type attic insulation is increasing, and the requirement for manufacturers to test their products has also increased along with production. This paper discusses some of the critical parameters involved in testing loose-fill materials using a heat flow meter apparatus. It is shown, in studies conducted to characterize a material, that many of the sample preparation variables must be fixed.
