Effect of Formulation and Pressure on Spray Distribution Across the Swath with Hydraulic Nozzles
SourceVarious types of hydraulic atomizing nozzles were used to study the spray distribution across the swath with water and emulsions at pressures of 138, 276, and 552 kPa (20, 40, and 80 psi). The nozzles sprayed onto a spray table divided into troughs 3 cm (1.2 in.) wide. The results indicate that composition of the material sprayed, type of nozzle, and operating pressure greatly influenced distribution of deposits across the swath. A computer program was used to determine the coefficient of variation (COV) and mean deposit for 3-cm increments of various distances between nozzles. The optimum distances between nozzles (lowest COV) were dependent on spray mixture and operating pressure.
