Effect of End-Tab Design on Tension Specimen Stress Concentrations
SourceAn analytical and experimental study was performed to evaluate geometrical and material parameter effects on the stress concentrations of tension specimen end-tab design. The parameters were constrained to those falling within the options set forth in the ASTM Test for Tensile Properties of Fiber Resin Composites (D 3039-76). Geometrical parameters included tab angle, tab thickness, cutoff thickness, tab length, and adhesive thickness. Material parameters included tab material and adhesive material. The tension specimen and thickness were held constant.
