Tantalum and Niobium in Some Electronic Applications

The evolution of tantalum and niobium capacitors is reviewed. Present tantalum capacitor technology and commercial activity are summarized. Superconducting materials are reviewed, with specific discussion of niobium alloys and intermetallics. The use of tantalum and niobium oxides is described in the production of tantalate and niobate piezocrystals.
