Emphasis is made on how, why, and where titanium alloys are uniquely suited for use in corrosive hydrometallurgical applications. Features and advantages of hydrometallurgical processes are briefly reviewed. Relevant aspects of titanium's corrosion resistance are discussed in relation to exposure conditions encountered in these applications. Several prominent examples of successful utilization of titanium in copper, cobalt, and nickel ore hydrometallurgical processes are presented.
