A Metrication Case History: Ford's 2.3-Litre Engine
SourceThis illustrated report covers Ford's experience in engineering and manufacturing the first mass-produced, metric automotive engine in the United States. Some conversion problems are identified, and techniques used to minimize short-term costs of going metric are described. The metrication trend is briefly reviewed, along with a reference to the opportunity for potentially minimizing final product costs in the long run as a result of metrication.
