Case History, Honeywell Inc.
SourceHoneywell as a multinational company has been involved with the metric system, as applied to its worldwide products and marketplace, for some time. However, a new generation involvement with the metric trends in the United States in the late 60's and increased emphasis on internationalization has motivated Honeywell into a formal metric transition program. This program, starting with a company policy and proceeding under a “Corporate Plan,” set the company on the metric road effective 1 July 1972. Its planning, philosophy, policy, training projections, and experience are presented as a case history in this paper.
