Selecting Testing Conditions Representative of the Atmospheric Environment

The main environmental factors that affect atmospheric corrosion of metals are examined and their range and distribution are related to steel utilization. From the data available, recommendations are made for the selection of exposure sites in Great Britain likely to be more representative of conditions in which steel is used than are present sites. A method is suggested for examining pollution data in this context. The implications for natural atmospheric exposure testing are discussed.
