Field evaluation to establish the relative efficacy of three anticoagulant rodenticides for the control of desert rodents was made employing three census methods: active burrow counts, census baiting, and live trapping. The field testing was conducted in three phases: pretreatment population estimation, random placement of the candidate poison baits, and posttreatment population estimation. It is indicated that the burrow count method of population estimation is more reliable than the census baiting and live trapping methods.
