A Driving Rain Index for Masonry Walls

The British have developed and the Canadians have subsequently adopted a driving rain index that is here applied as a criterion to define the severity of exposure of masonry walls to water permeation. Recommendations are made for minimum thicknesses of several masonry materials in walls with and without coatings and furring in five geographical regions of the United States.
