Surface Corrosion of Metals in Geothermal Fluids at Broadlands, New Zealand
SourceCorrosion studies of metallic construction materials for a geothermal power plant at Broadlands, New Zealand, are described. Surface corrosion investigations on 36 materials in seven geothermal media, using the ASTM coupon method, have been initiated, and results for selected materials are presented in a logarithmic graphical form. The observed corrosion characteristics are discussed in terms of corrosion product composition and stability and theoretical film-formation mechanisms.
