Influence of Placement Condition on Shear Test Results on Compacted Soil
SourceTriaxial compression tests on compacted specimens of till show that the effective shear parameters, shear strength, dilatancy, and strain at failure are affected by both compactive effort and placement water content. The method of saturating specimens prior to shear was varied allowing no prestress and had no significant effect on test results.
