High-Pressure Triaxial Tests on a Compacted Sand and an Undisturbed Silt

Triaxial S tests were performed on undisturbed Cannonsville silt and on a compacted sand at confining pressures ranging from 1 to 40 kg/cm. It was found that both soils exhibited a net increase in volume during shear at low confining pressures but exhibited a net decrease in volume during shear at high confining pressures.
